For wilderness enthusiasts, autumn in the Discovery Islands is an adventure of a lifetime. In the late summer, thousands of salmon head up coastal streams, fighting the current to reach their spawning grounds. This annual journey draws the iconic wildlife of the Pacific coast to feed and prepare for winter: dolphins, sea lions, whales, eagles, and the majestic grizzly bear.

Your autumn adventure begins with a spectacular helicopter ride from Vancouver over the rugged British Columbia coastline, the thick evergreen cedars forming a backdrop for brilliant fall foliage. You will stay in a luxurious Diamond Room that is outfitted with binoculars to view the wildlife outside your window.

During your stay, you will go on a guided grizzly bear tour to the Orford River valley. A picturesque boat ride from the resort, this is a favourite feeding spot for grizzlies fattening up for the winter. Your experienced guide will take you by vehicle to one of several viewing towers where you will have a safe, unobstructed view of the grizzlies as they feast.

You will also go on an eco tour, a journey by boat to see the breathtaking British Columbian coast in vibrant autumn colour. Scores of animals come here to prepare for winter, and your guide will take you to the best viewing sites to see the wildlife in their natural habitat.

Each night, you will enjoy a harvest tasting menu created by Executive Chef Terry Pichor. The autumn tasting menus are culinary celebrations of the season, the perfect way to cap off each day of your fall Sonora getaway.
